The anniversary edition of the Asia-Pacific Weeks (APW) from 15 to 28 May 2017 addresses the issue of digitalization and is designed to appeal to an audience of professionals from industry, small and medium-sized businesses, and startups.
The Haus der deutschen Wirtschaft will again host the official opening on the afternoon of May 15, immediately following the “Digital Asia” conference organized by the Asia-Pacific Forum Berlin. On May 16, the Embassy Day will take place at the Palais am Festungsgraben. Building on this year´s success the “Connecting Startup Cities” conference will be held at Haus Ungarn from May 17 to 19. On May 19, our partners will organize various satellite events all over Berlin. (Our German and Asian guests will enjoy the added benefit of being introduced to exciting locations in the city.)
In 2017, the APW will collaborate with re:publica , one of the world’s largest conferences on digital culture, which is taking place from May 8 to 10, and with the Global Innovation Gathering on May 13 and 14. This will enable us to harness synergies and give those traveling from Asia the opportunity to attend all three prominent events.
The APW will also host the second Berlin edition of StartHubs AsiaBerlin , a network connecting the startup hubs Berlin, Bangalore, Jakarta, and Manila that was launched during the APW 2016. Twenty-five representatives from all four cities visited the three Asian startup hubs between October 18 and 27 to establish contacts and initiate joint projects. A second Asian tour is planned for the fall of 2017. The APW have become the leading European platform for dialogue and collaboration with partners from the Asia-Pacific region, bringing together stakeholders from business, science, culture, and politics to discuss current trends as well as global issues and to start collaborating on specific projects. The APW can look back on a 20-year history of promoting new and innovative issues, locations, and formats in the dialogue with Asia.
