Photo-Exhibition of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites of Pakistan & Germany

Enlarge image Images of the rich cultural and architectural heritage sites in Pakistan and Germany have been brought together at an exhibition that began on 7thApril 2011 along with a public outreach programme.

The inaugural assembly of the public outreach programme at the Karachi e-library and the display of photographs of world heritage sites in the two countries was organised by Heritage Foundation and the Consulate-General of the Federal Republic of Germany at the KMC building.

Due to immense public demand, the show will continue till May 10, 2011.

Speaking on the occasion, Heritage Foundation chief Yasmeen Lari shed light on the usefulness of the digital library. She said the library housed invaluable material for researchers and scholars and would go a long way in safeguarding the heritage of the region.

Consul General of Germany Dr Christian Brecht said the library was a unique facility in the city where people could come and go through old maps and documents. He said the library would also provide information to the public about their history and traditions. Lauding the exhibition, he said it had images of beautiful heritage buildings and landscapes of Germany and Pakistan and would further bring the two countries together.

Further funding has been provided in November 2011 to the Pakistan Heritage Foundation for the Digitization of Karachi's paper heritage to save parts of the archive of Karachi Municipality including historic maps, photographs, etc. and for the establishment of an e-library.
