Peter Pannke, a German author and musician, has been visiting Pakistan since the late 1960ies. He visited Pakistan in February 2011 researching for the "Landscapes of the Soul", a project launched by the Goethe-Institut Pakistan.

He took part in the Karachi Literature Festival (KLF) at the Carlton Hotel Karachi on Feb. 5 and 6. Peter Pannke participated in a panel session on Sufism together with Dr. Juergen Wasim Frembgen (Germany), Dr. Michel Bouvin (France), and Samina Quraeshi (US/Pak) on Sunday, Feb 6. The session was moderated by Sadia Dehlvi (India).

The Goethe-Institut presented Mr. Pannke afterwards in a Meet-the-Artist event on Feb. 9.

Peter Pannke is a well-known broadcaster, world music producer and bandleader of "Troubadours United". In 1997 the troupe created the musical "A Donkey in the Forest of Honey" at the International Performing Arts Festival in Lahore.

Peter Pannke has received several awards for his achievements in the field of music and literature bridging the sounds and cultures of Europe and the East. Peter Pannke's books include "Troubadours of Allah - Sufi Music in the Indus Valley", which was presented by the German Consulate Karachi and the Goethe-Institut through an exhibition in 2009, the book "Mali – Journey through a Magic Country" , "Singers Die Twice“ and "Dreamtalker” , as well as forthcoming "Saints and Singers" (to be published by Oxford University Press, Karachi).

Peter Pannke himself describes his work as follows

"I am sniffing the footprints and the perfume of the lost, those lovers, drifters, minstrels, malangs ,derwishes & qalandars, who passed on this road before me."
