"German Day" at the CAS School Karachi
‘German Day’ was observed at the C.A.S. School on 19th March 2010 to pay tribute to great German personalities. The event was organised by the Foreign Language Department (FLP) of the C.A.S. School. Students of classes 7, 8 and 9 who have taken up German as a foreign language, presented little skits in German on famous German personalities such as Goethe, Beethoven, King Ludwig II of Bavaria, Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen (who discovered the x-ray), Carl Benz and Angela Merkel. The students researched on the personalities themselves and then converted their finding into little skits into German. A student of class 9 played the German and Pakistani national anthem. At the end of the presentation, one instrumental music piece by German pop singer Nena and a German song by the same artist was performed by students of classes 7 and 9.
Consul General Dr. Christian Brecht attended the event as guest of honour. Among the other distinguished guests was the Director of the Goethe-Institut, Dr Markus Litz along with some of his staff, members of the German Speaking Womens Club and the parents and students of the C.A.S. School.
