Ambulances for Pakistan
On 7th February 2011, the Defence Attaché of the German Embassy, Ltd. Col. Klaus Wolf, handed over the first batch of 12 (out of 24) ambulances to the Pakistani Armed Forces at the port of Karachi. The reconditioned vehicles constitute a donation of the German Armed Forces. They have been fully refurbished and well-equipped with medical instruments and supplies. In addition, special equipment for otolaryngology treaments has been provided to a military hospital in Pakistan.
This donation of the German Government contributes to improving the health care facilities available in Pakistan's fight against terrorism. The Pakistani Armed Forces have suffered until today by the loss of 2.700 troops in its fights in Pakistan against extremism and terrorism. About 8.400 soldiers have been wounded so far - especially in the tribal areas of the frontier region to Afghanistan.
