Overview of the German Consulate's Micro Projects in 2009

The German Consulate General Karachi has supported several organisations with financial aid through the German Government's "Micro Projects Scheme". Following is a list of projects conducted the year 2009:

German Micro-Projects in Pakistan

Cooperation with Al Umeed Rehabilitation Association

On 02.04.2009, the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany granted a micro-project funding of Rs. 300,000.- to the Al Umeed Rehabilitation Association (AURA) within the framework of Consulate's Micro Project Funding Scheme.
The Consulate General will provide Rs. 300,000.- to AURA for purchasing special furniture and equipment for children suffering from Celebral Palsy.
The contract was signed by Consul General Dr. Christian Brecht and Mrs. Aban Jamall of AURA.

German Micro-Projects in Pakistan

Cooperation with Life Line, Christian Development Services

On 16.04.2009, Dr. Christian Brecht, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Karachi, signed a contract with Life Line, Christian Development Services, represented by Dr. Michael Loos, for partial funding of the construction cost of a school in Sukkur.
The Consulate General has agreed to provide funds upto PR 800,000.-- for construction of a school for children from minorities in Sukkur.

Cooperation with Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre

On 20.04.2009, the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Karachi, Dr. Christian Brecht, signed a contract with Marie Adelaide Leprosy Centre, Karachi, represented by Dr. Ruth Pfau for financing of a health post in Gadap District.
The Consulate General has agreed to pay an amount of  Rs 471, 000.-- as a contribution for the a.m. project, which shall be set up for minorities and marginal groups in the Gadap District.

German Micro Projects

Cooperation with Children Hospital Quetta

On 02.06.2009,  the Federal Republic of Germany, acting through Mr. Dieter Freund, Consul and Deputy Head of the Consulate General in Karachi, signed a contract with the Children Hospital Quetta represented by Dr. Javed Ahmed Baloch, Resident Medical Officer and has agreed to pay a grant of 1,188,000.-- RS to the Children Hospital Quetta for purchase of hospital equipment.

Children Hospital Quetta is a state of the art hospital with unmatched facilities and services provided to the ailing children at a 60 % subsidized rate. The purchase of new life saving infant ventilators will be a big asset to the existing facilities of the hospital.

German Micro-Projects in Pakistan

Cooperation with Rehbar Educational Society

On 17.04.2009, Dr. Christian Brecht, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Karachi, signed a contract with the Rehbar Educational Society (RES), Ziarat/Balochistan, represented by their Chief Executive, Mr. Muhammad Hashim, for funding of equipment for a skill development project in Ziarat.
The Consulate-General has agreed to pay an amount of PR 500,000.- which shall be used for purchase of computers and related equipment at the RES.

Cooperation with Association for Humanitarian Development

On 24.03.2009, the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany granted a funding of Rs. 498,000.- to the Association for Humanitarian Development (AHD).
The contribution shall be used for village equipment, such as water filters, mosquito nets etc - to improve the health and hygiene situation in Lower Sindh. 

Cooperation with SOS Children's Village of Sindh

The Federal Republic of Germany signed a contract with the SOS Children's Villages of Sindh on 10.03.2009 for funding of the construction cost of a clinic at the SOS Children's Village, Jamshoro.
The German contribution of Rs. 450,000.-- is being granted within the framework of the Consulate's "Micro Projects Scheme".
