- foreign (other than German) degrees need to attached with an equivalence certificate (see

- proof of sufficient financial means by way of one of the options (see right side of the page)

a)      Proof of blocked account (Sperrkonto) in Germany in the name of the applicant showing a minimum balance of (effective from August 1, 2016) 4320 Euro(Euro 720 per month of stay in Germany, i.e 6 x Euro 720, and the remark that the account holder can dispose of a monthly amount of Euro 720 only).

 b)      “Verpflichtungserklärung” = formal obligation letter from a friend or relative residing in Germany issued by the local immigration Authority in Germany. Additionally bank account statements of the last 12 months, tax assessment form, income proofs etc should be provided if applicable.

You can also take out a health insurance in Germany. However, for the time period until you are settled in Germany, you have to submit a preliminary health insurance with your application.

Please provide a proof (original and two copies) of your language abilities according to the standards of the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE):

Language certificates/ tests such as

 "Zertifikat Deutsch" at least A1 level certificate or better [by Goethe-Institut (GI) or NUML],
IELTS, TOEFL

need to be presented.


Please note that it lies within the discretion of the visa sections to ask for further evidence of language skills depending on the individual case.

Proof of accomodation in Germany

Birth certificate and proof of personal status (marriage certificate, birth certificates children, list of children)

Important !

Further documents may be required depending on the specific circumstances of your case.

A precheck of the above mentioned documents will be done by our authorised local staff at the visa counter. In case of previous applications either for visa, passport or for legalisation of documents, please mention the relevant file number in order to avoid delays. Incomplete applications cannot be accepted.

Visa Fees

For applications at the Embassy Islamabad, please note that at the time of application an amount of 500,- PKR is due for returning the passports through a courier service. 
While submitting the application, you will be given a pay slip. Please take this slip to the Standard Chartered Bank, Diplomatic Enclave Branch only, and pay the visa fee. The bank will report your payment to the Embassy. A fee of 700,- PKR will be levied by the bank.
If your appointment falls on an official banking holiday,
the payment of fees cannot be settled the same day.

For applications at the Consulate General Karachi, please note that the visa fee (equivalent in PKR) has to be paid in CASH at time of submission.
