Tourist visa

In order to speed up the procedure at the visa counter, you are kindly requested to present the documents exactly in the same order as indicated below:

  1. Short-stay visa application form duly filled and signed by the applicant. In case of minor(s), form should be signed by both parents. application form (download) - for short-term visas [pdf, 98.56k]

  2. Two (2) recent photographs of the applicant, white background. Please check photograph specifications here: information on photos [pdf, 550.79k]

  3. Accommodation proof (confirmed hotel reservation, rent agreement clearly stating your name, rental period dates and accommodation address) covering the entire period of travel.

  4. Original signed letter of the applicant’s company/employer stating name, position, salary, duration of employment, address and contact numbers of the employer, purpose and duration of visit to the Schengen state(s). If the applicant is a “student”, original signed letter from the applicant’s school/college or University.

  5. Supporting documents of personal income :

    - Original bank statements of the last six months
    - National Tax Number Certificate (NTN) for the previous two years and proof of income tax payment (FBR)
    - Last three salary slips

    If the applicant is the proprietor of a company, he must attach :

    - Original bank statements of the last six months
    - National Tax Number Certificate (NTN) for the previous two years and proof of income tax payment (FBR)

  6. Copy of flight booking(s).

  7. An ordinary passport or other recognised travel document valid for at least three months from the expiry date of the visa applied for. This document must have at least two empty pages. Please bring previous passports, if any, and attach with application copies, on A4 size paper, of used pages, copies of Schengen, US, UK, Canada, Australia visas. Photocopy of your national ID card. Police report if previous passports lost.

  8. If you have been refused a visa by an Embassy or High Commission, written explanation about reason for trip and refusal letter.

  9. Original and photocopy of Family Registration Certificate issued by NADRA (in English or with a certified translation if in Urdu).

  10. For underage children (under 18) travelling with a single parent, a written consent of the other parent is required with photocopy of his CNIC card.

  11. Appointment email confirmation and AMEX slip to return your passport.

  13. Original AND copy of a travel medical insurance policy of not less than 30,000 Euros. The policy must cover medical and hospitalisation expenses for the entire period of valid stay on Schengen territory as well as repatriation costs. Consult valid list of authorized insurance companies in Pakistan as agreed by Schengen partners in Islamabad. link

  14. Third country nationals residing in Pakistan must provide supporting documents attesting to the legality and the authorised duration of their residence here.

Original documents not needed will be returned with passport but only if copies are provided by applicant as requested. 

Visa Fees

For applications at the Embassy Islamabad, please note that at the time of application an amount of 500,- PKR is due for returning the passports through a courier service. 
While submitting the application, you will be given a pay slip. Please take this slip to the Standard Chartered Bank, Diplomatic Enclave Branch only, and pay the visa fee. The bank will report your payment to the Embassy. A fee of 700,- PKR will be levied by the bank.
If your appointment falls on an official banking holiday,
the payment of fees cannot be settled the same day.

For applications at the Consulate General Karachi, please note that the visa fee (equivalent in PKR) has to be paid in CASH at time of submission.

- complete
- readable
- not (!) stapled

The German Missions reserve the right to request additional documents

Applications will only be accepted and processed after the submission of all required documents - failure to do so will result in the refusal of the visa.

Applicants are kindly asked to note that compliance with the afore mentioned conditions does not automatically guarantee that a visa will be issued.

Even with a valid visa, the competent German border authorities may refuse entry into the territory of Germany. In such cases, the Government of Germany accepts no liability.

Obligation to declare cash in amounts of EUR 10,000 or more entering or leaving the EU

All travellers entering or leaving the European Union with €10,000 or more in cash must declare the sum to Customs from 15 June 2007. This initiative has been taken to assist the efforts being made at EU level to tackle crime and improve security by cracking down on money laundering, terrorism and criminality.
