German travel documents are issued centrally by the Federal Printing Office (Bundesdruckerei) in Berlin and sent by Diplomatic pouch to the missions abroad. Hence, it takes a few weeks until your passport can be handed over to you. Therefore, we recommend to apply for the passport in due time.

In Pakistan, the Consulate General in Karachi accepts passport applications for the inhabitants of the Sindh and Balochistan provinces. The Embassy in Islamabad is in charge for all other provinces and areas in Pakistan. As a matter of principle, passports need to be applied for in person and in writing.

Passport applications can only be submitted in person.
At the Embassy, appointments are given by telephone only.
Please call (0092 51) 227 9441 at the following hours:
Monday to Friday 8.30 to 13.00 hrs
Tuesday to Thursday 14:00 to 15:00 hrs

At the Consulate General, please call (0092 21) -  3587 3782 or (0092 21) -  3582 1596.

The processing time for passport applications will take about five weeks after your application is complete, a possibly required document verification has taken place and, if applicable, the use of a name subject to German law has been determined.
