For applications at the Embassy please provide three application forms.

For applications at the Consulate please submit two application forms

- completely and truly filled out by typewriter or computer
- signed by the applicant

- minimum age for applications as a spouse / husband is 18 years

- per applicant and
- three photos of your spouse/family member in Germany
- photos not older than six months
- no computer print-outs accepted
- staple both photos of you and your spouse on page 1 of the application form

- valid Pakistani passport

- passport needs to be valid for three months after the expiry of the applied visa
- copies of pages 0-3, copies of visas or residence permits as well as copies of all entry and exit stamps

- copies of former passports (if any)

- copies of pages 0-3, copies of visas or residence permits as well as copies of all entry and exit stamps

- passport copies of your spouse / family member

containing:

- his /her personal data
- the issuance data of the passport
- all residence permits/visas
- all entry and exit stamps

- applicant's declaration

- security questionnaire

- original Pakistani birth certificate

- in Urdu with English or German translation
- attested by Magistrate First Class / Nazim

- original Pakistani marriage certificate

- in Urdu with English or German translation
- attested by Magistrate First Class / Nazim

- registration "Form B"

- stating the head of the household under whom the applicant(s) is / are registered
- with an English or German translation

- proof of previous marriage - if any

- divorce certificate or
- death certificate of your former spouse
- originals in Urdu with English or German translations plus 3 copies
- attested by Magistrate First Class / Nazim

- documentation of registration in Germany ("Meldebescheinigung")

- about your spouse’s / family member’s current residence in Germany, issued not longer than 6 months back

- proof of sufficient basic knowledge of the German language

not required from:

- applicants who are spouses of acknowledged asylum seekers and acknowledged refugees according to the Geneva Convention for Refugees
- applicants who are mentally or physically handicapped
- applicants who apply for family reunion with their German child

- proof (in original and three copies) of your language abilities according to the standards of the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE).

In Pakistan, such exams can only be taken at the Goethe-Institut (GI). However, you are free to decide how and where to prepare for these exams.

Where to learn German in Pakistan ?

The A1 language certificate by the Goethe-Institut is sufficient.

For applicants at the Embassy only: Please provide a copy of the appointment confirmation e-mail

- including the provided booking code (e.g. "isla_588207")

- visa fees

60 Euro  (minors under 18 years: 30 €)

If you intend to join a German or other European Union member state national no visa fee will be charged.
In case you submit Pakistani documents at the Embassy, the Embassy will issue a letter and request you to get a bank draft from Meezan Bank Islamabad (Blue Area branch only !), amounting to 30.000 PKR for document verification (the bank will additionally charge 500 PKR as a fee).
