  • Office of the Defence Attaché

    The Office of the Defence Attaché is responsible for all issues regarding to the Pakistani and the German Ministry of Defence.

  • Economic Section

    The Economic Section promotes German-Pakistan business relations. It is a contact point for German companies being active in Pakistan or interested in doing business in Pakistan as well as for Pakistani companies and business people interested in doing business with Germany.

  • Development Section

    The development cooperation section is responsible for the development cooperation between Germany and Pakistan. Pakistan is a “priority partner” for German development cooperation. It focuses on three sectors: health, education, energy. Cooperation has recently been extended to include the governance sector. Geographically, Germany's assistance concentrates on the Khyber Pahktoonkhwa Province (former NWFP), the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Azad Jammu and Kashmir as well as Sindh.

  • Consular and Legal Section

    The Consular and Legal Section provides a range of services for German citizens. It also follows legal issues in Pakistan that are of interest to Germany.

  • Press Section

    The Press Section is responsible for presenting German domestic and foreign policies to the Pakistani public. It maintains close contacts with Pakistani journalists and with German correspondents working in Pakistan.

  • Cultural Section

    The Cultural Section offers a window to Germany’s rich and varied cultural life, as well as Pak-German cultural relations and German cultural activities in Pakistan. The Cultural Section works together with its partners, which include the two official German Cultural Centres in Pakistan (Goethe-Institut Karachi and Annemarie-Schimmel-House, Lahore) and the Representative of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Islamabad.

  • Administration

    The Administration covers the internal organisation and management of the mission, such as personnel affairs, budgeting, IT, equipment of the Chancery as well as of the Ambassador's Residence and maintenance of the premises.

Embassy

Chancery and Ambassador's Residence

In 1970, the foundation stone for both the Chancery and the Ambassador's Residence was laid by former Ambassador Norbert Berger. The buildings were inaugurated in 1972.

The new building for the visa section was inaugurated in 2009.

The Embassy is located within the "Diplomatic Enclave" - close to buildings of the Pakistani government.

The Chancery has an auditorium for lectures, exhibitions, concerts and other cultural events.

Stephan Röken

The Ambassador is supported in his role by the Deputy Head of Mission, who represents the Ambassador inside and outside the Embassy in all areas. He handles coordination and general personnel matters as well as particular political issues.
